The Bumblebee Shop - Handcrafted Gifts for Babies & Kids!

Hi friends!  Here's two fun new updates:
1) Neckwarmers: I've been having some fun making some beautiful neckwarmers and am slowly getting them here on the website... but in the meantime they are all on the Etsy site!  So go check them out!
2) Blog: I have created a REALLY fun blog where I will feature (hopefully several times per week) my favorite handmade items from other sellers!  The site is  If you have any suggestions for it, email me at!  Check it out often!

I'm so excited to debut the cotton flowered Earflap Beanie!  They are on the "hats" page - you can pick any color (as seen on the "Baby Shoes" page) and I'll be adding other sizes for them very soon!

I'll be doing my first little "show" along with DashJewelry on November 20!  We're really excited about it! :)

Makeover! 10/03/2008

The Bumblebee Shop has had a facelift!  I am a trade at the Barter Boutique, and Lynette from Designed by Lynette agreed to a trade!  I feel like I hit the jackpot!  She was fabulous to work with, very patient, and with very few instructions on my part managed to come up with exactly what I had in mind! :)

If you are looking for a makeover for your site or blog, PLEASE check her out.  She is very affordable and super quick - pretty much everything you could ask for!  She also created a new banner for my Etsy site and created a new design for my business cards.  Wahoo!  Thanks Lynette!

At long last, they are here!  I am finally debuting my cotton Mary Jane slippers!  You can find them on the "Baby Shoes" page.  I'm working on putting more colors up, so be patient :)  I just couldn't wait any longer to put a pair up!  After a couple of months of laboring over getting the pattern just right, I am so happy with it and think the shoes are just too cute!

The slippers are made from 50% cotton/50% acrylic yarn.  Why not 100%?  Because, while working on the pattern, I found that 100% cotton tends to fade easily.  So, I found this fabulous 50/50 yarn that has the softness of cotton, but doesn't fade the same way that 100% cotton does.

I hope you're as happy with them as I am ~ don't hesitate to contact me for a custom order! :)

Well folks, I never thought this would happen, but I haven't made much jewelry lately, so I'm phasing out the jewelry!  Ever since I began making the baby shoes, I have been VERY busy with custom orders.

HOWEVER, I want everyone to rest assured that I still have all of my jewelry here on the site - just go to the Sitemap at the bottom of the home page, and I'd still be happy to work with you on a custom order if you need one!  I am just running out of space on the website and am going to focus for awhile on these baby shoes and hats and see how things go.  Let me know what you think about this!  :)

I am asking everyone reading this to please visit Nie Recovery to learn about the recovery efforts for Stephanie and Christian Nielson, a young couple with four children.  Stephanie and Christian were in a private plane crash in August and suffered severe burns - Stephanie over 80% of her body, Christian over 30% of his.

Stephanie became a "famous" blogger online with her interesting musings on life, marriage, and motherhood - read her blog here.

Stephanie, Christian, and their family need our prayers and love during this difficult time of healing and recovery.  I'll be donating 10% of each sale to the recovery efforts... please keep their family in your prayers!

Busy, Busy 09/09/2008

Wow, I can't believe it is almost the middle of September!  Hopefully it will be July 30 before we know it :)  (that is the date of the Bar Exam)!  I haven't been updating frequently because I've been really busy lately (and sick, yuck!) but here are some updates:

- a few patterns are now for sale on the Etsy site!  My favorite one is the knotted scarf - it is really easy and very cute, so check it out if you're a crocheter!

- I've been doing a lot of custom orders lately, which I LOVE, so keep them coming!  If you think you'll need a custom order around the holidays, please go ahead and let me know now, because I'll have exams/traveling/etc.

- I've been working on some new items, so check back soon - they'll be here in the next week or so!  The new items include some great winter items... :)

I DID IT!!!! 08/24/2008

I did it!!  I did it!!  I made my own pattern!!  They are the cutest little Mary Jane shoes in the entire world.  I made them from cotton yarn, and they are just adorable.  I'm trying to decide whether to sell the shoes, the pattern, or both.  I'd love to just sell the shoes, but as I've mentioned before, I just don't have tons of time right now to crochet a lot, and next semester/Bar time, I definitely won't have much time.  So we'll see... I still need to take some pictures, clean up the pattern a bit, and write it up.

I'm also working on a fabulous bamboo scarf... yummmm.  It is so amazingly soft.  I think I'm going to keep the scarf for myself and sell the pattern - it is a great ribbed pattern using some pretty easy stitches.

Hope all is well wherever you may be! :)  Check back soon for the Mary Janes!

I've been doing a lot of custom orders lately, and I wanted to make sure those great items could be seen by all (because I LOVE doing custom orders!).  So, I've created a "Gallery of Custom Orders" page.  If you see an idea you like, let me know and we'll come up with something similar for yourself.

Also, I go back to class on Tuesday the 19th, so I wont' be creating new items as often... but keep checking back because I do have some ideas in the works!  Don't forget, you can sign up for my newsletter by submitting the form on the Contact us page.

As always, thanks for your support! :)

I've added the Little Button Loafers to the Baby Shoes page - as always, I can make them in any color combinations, so contact me if you'd like a custom order! :)
